I was a mother of three by the time I was 26, and I recently welcomed a baby girl to the family. Motherhood has been a giant roller coaster ride, what with juggling work, household chores and taking care of four children! As mothers out there would know, it is a near impossible task, and this was what led me to employ a foreign domestic worker (FDWs) or as we like to call her, our helper. I have had many experiences with household helpers. Some were great and really eased my load, whereas others were really not suitable. So many times, agencies have tried to sell me he perfect maid, but I have learnt that there really is no such thing. Nobody is perfect. It all depends on our mindset and as employers, it boils down to two things finding someone who fits our household needs, and managing our expectations. At Singapore Helper, I am not here sell you the illusion of a perfect helper. However, I empathise with all the challenges employers may face after all, I have been there. Therefore, I make sure that the helpers I represent have been educated with the basic skill sets, so they can assimilate more seamlessly into your household.
